The salary of an ultrasound technician follows the same method as any other profession. The approximate annual salary can exceed (JUST TRY N PUT IT IN POUNDS! )$65,000. It can also vary depending on the work setting. Ultra technicians working in hospitals could receive anything around $47,530 and those working in the doctors' offices could earn $50,390.
Experience also plays a very important role in the salary. A chief ultrasound technician could receive anything from $56,627 to $68,690. However, some technicians are paid on hourly basis. For example technicians with an experience below one year may receive $19, 1 to 3 years, $20.75; 4 to 6 years, $22.73; 7 to 9, $24.33; 10 to 14 years, $25; 15 to 20, $25; more than 20, $26.05.
The other salary considerations to be kept in mind are, if you are not registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), you may receive a very low pay.
If you are a specialist in any field like abdomen, breast, OB/GYN, etc., you will receive a higher pay.

Please don't pick this just because of the money!  Anything in healthcare can be very demanding and you need to have an interest in order to be a good technologist. You would be doing a disservice to the profession.  I take call 220 hours a month and work full time, it is not easy and yes you make good money, but there is a lot of responsiblity and it's not just pushing buttons.
