The income of the dancer depends highly upon the area of specialization and the scale at which they work that is the kind of company they word for and the expertise that they have. The salary increases with the level of expertise. The earnings of professional dancers are controlled either by union contracts or American Guild of Musical artists. Only dancers who do opera ballet, modern dance and classical ballet come under the American Guild of Musical artists.

The average annual income of a professional dancer is around $30,000 according to the survey carried out this year. Dancers who go abroad for tours and competitions get a relatively higher salary and also get additional benefits during the tours.
