I spent my working life in telecomunications. Started out with Morse Code in 1952 then progressed through all manner of teleprinters and telex before finally ending up in computers about 1990.

I was a job with built in obsolescence and from about age 50 I kept getting laid off as commerce found it no longer needed specialists to communnicate.

Hmm. I wonder if I was an endangered species?

For the time being, I work for Enterprise Rent-A-Car. It's definitely not a glamorous job but it pays the bills until that ever elusive opportunity presents itself.

I have two possibilities right now. One is a full time IT technician and the other is a full time IT assistant, both with privately owned companies. I've sent in the necessary papers. Just waiting for a call. Fingers crossed!

I'm retired now after almost 35 years in the Automotive business. Mechanic, Auto Body, Auto Paint, Graphics and air brush and shop owner. Made a good living and sold my shop for a good profit and retired!

Plus I'm an Administrator for blurtit and I beta-test games for Slitherine/Matrix games. Love being retired and doing my own thing.

I'm a retired building contractor. Owned my own business and passed it on to a couple of my great employees when I retired.

Also, I'm a semi-retired diamond and gemstone broker. Right now, I just take care of a few old customers, no new business.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that job. It's so much fun, it doesn't feel like work.
Hi Rath, how you doin'?

I'm doing okay. I love not working. I retire in November after being off work for more than a year. Canada took a lot of Syrian refugees, so I'm doing a bit of English tutoring with women. Not men. I'm swimming, and reading, and my environment is so quieter now. But I miss my lovely bad kids.
How are you doing?

It's tough when you stop doing something that you love to do but it sounds like you're keeping yourself busy. I'm doing great. I started another part time business which keeps me busy, but only when I feel like it.

I am a carpenter by trade but since I work for a general contractor, I also get to be an electrician, plumber, mason, drywall finisher, and sometimes an equipment operator. I also make kitchen cabinets for 2 or 3 kitchens a year in the evenings in my shop.  I've thought about doing that full time, but the benefits are too good at my daytime job.

I'm retired .. But was an administrative assistant for a large earth moving/construction company for many years.  Very interesting having worked with a lot of high level execs .. Seeing the "other side" of business.  I thoroughly enjoyed it.
