It is the knowledge of the person that is necessary to operate and navigate a ship. Acquiring seamanship is no easy business, it requires the knowledge of navigation, maritime laws, forecasting, meteorology, anchors, deck, rescue, towing, rope work, communication, cargo, emergencies and many other skills as well.
