I Have A Phone Interview W/EDD Because I Answered No On The Initial Weekly Form "Did You Look For Work?". What Questions Should I Expect From EDD. I Did Look For Work But Did No Apply Yet.

Hey. I also recently received a notice saying I have a second interview and on my last weekly form I also answered no. I was wondering if they already called you and what questions they asked. I am a bit nervous about the call, I ALWAYS get nervous about these kinds of things.

Just say you want to work for the state. You want the vast benefits, the medical, the dental, the pension, the paid days off, the holidays, the vacations, the unions, the yearly pay raises, you want it ALL. Be a state worker and you will be just fine in 09.

Hello I have a similar problem I also was laid off and collecting unemployment but I applied for my first extension because the money was gone before the claim expired. Ok well I'm taking night classes at a community college and I like to be an honest person so I checked the starting attending school or training box and now I have a phone interview what would be the best thing to say over the interview?

They are probably just going to ask you why you have not looked for work....what measures you are taking to look for work...things like that.....be careful, you do not want them to catch you in a lie, you could be forced to pay back any assistance you have received if you are not complyant

Thanks Kristiw, appreciate the quick response. That darn question #3 is so vague. I've answered no was because I did no apply but I did "look for work". And dealing with the EDD rep was like speaking to one of Jerry Springer's guest. Sorry, just a little frustrated with EDD. Been working all my life and this it the very first time I'm applying for unemployment. It's bad enough I got laid off, but to also have to deal with EDD...yuck!

The EDD does not return calls, does not return emails. And the state employees they hire some have very thick foreign accents--you cannot understand as they do not have an adequate command of the English language.

I have received lots of responses from the EDD's email system, 5 in one day to be exact, and only one day after I wrote them my five questions! I just wrote them a couple more questions last night. I'll have to see how long it takes them to respond.

By me saying no to this question will they not approve of me getting unemployment?

The EDD hires imbeciles. They are indeed like a Springer or Maury guest. Good luck, CA has the highest taxes, yet the worst service governmentally, They are very adept at taking money though.
