It would be best if they had kept a record of their employment history themself as the information they will be able to get may not be as accurate as they would want. This would not only save money but would make sure that all the details already written down rather than needing to work out dates. There will not be anyone who will allow people to have the information for free but is will not cost too much.

A person will be able to get some of the information from the Social Security Administration. They will charge about $35 to give them the past 10 years records but it will be more expensive if they want to go back further than that. They will be able to give them the salary you earned that year but they will not be able to tell them where you worked. Hopefully the dates and the salary may help them to match the place.

Companies such as Intelius will provide details of the jobs they had and where they filled in income tax returns and for this there will be a fee of between $2 and $50 depending on how much information is needed. If they don’t want to pay they are entitled to a free credit check each year. This can be with a company such as Experian and they will get their credit rating and employment history but again this may not be in as much detail as they want.

Abika will allow there to be a search by state but if they have worked in various places they may have to make multiple searches. To use this function will cost in the region of  $50+.

Social Security Office & the Unemployment Office in your area should have your work history, including dates of Employment.

You have to request your State Employment Commission office to get a print out of employment history. They keep all the records of your employments.

You can also make a list by yourself if you have paid taxes. Check all your tax forms to make a detail.

If this for you. If you keep your yearly W-2 filing of income tax. That will give you a good start.

Good question; I'm trying to find my son's employment history for the past five years or so for a Social Security Disability application.  His employment was never what you would call resume worthy.  Many sites offer Employment History Verification for a fee, but don't specifically state that they have employer's names, hire and separation dates.  Has anyone got experience with one of these services?  Thanks for your help.

Actually I think that if your employers from the past participated, you can use www.theworknumber.com thats what I did and it had 85% of my employment history. They can give you one employment data report a year. It worked for me.
