Job enrichment is an approach to job design. The focus is to increase the depth of the job (by the amount of discretion and responsibility the job holder has). It is different from job enlargement ( which focuses on increasing the number of tasks a job holder is responsible for performing (more work/tasks to do!) Iin job enrichment, additional tasks are not the focus or the goal, but an increase in tasks could be a result of giving the job holder more authority, ldiscretion, and responsibility for decision making in their current role)
Under which circumstances would an organization not wish to enlarge or enrich a job.
Job enrichment is giving the worker more authority over the work, providing a variety of task vertical expansion of a job and increasing responsibility, by adding planning, and evaluating responsibilities.
