There are plenty of ways to make money online, but if you are looking for a way to make a lot of money in a hurry, the internet is not the place to start if you don't know a lot about it. You can start with a small investment and make some money, though.

You can sell other people's items as an affiliate marketer. You register with a site such as commission junction or shareasale and use your own website to promote the item. You receive a portion of the sales generated by your promotions or a flat fee for registrations and purchases.

You can use PPC advertising to promote someone else's product if you don't have a website of your own.

You can put text and banner ads on your website that are contextual - meaning that they are related to the topic of your site. All three of the major search engines run programs. You earn a small amount of money each time someone clicks on the ad.

You could raise a hefty sum on eBay if you already have things that you want to sell. You could also find items cheaply at garage sales and then resell them on eBay.

You can join the free online survey sites, but don't expect to make a lot.

Write your own eBook and sell it online either on your own website or through a site such as clickbank.

Many people attempt to make money online by joining auction sites such as Ebay, where they sell off their items. Other sites like this include Amazon (though Amazon isn't an auction site, sellers just sell off their items rather than put them up for people to bid on).

Another way to make money online is to join survey companies. This is where you are paid to take surveys. This can either be free to join, or you may have to pay. You usually have to pay for survey companies that offer more money per survey.

Advertising your products via your own website and adding a paypal button is another way. There's also self-publishing online on sites such as lulu.com, where you charge people to download your book or a 'print on demand' process, in which you get money whenever someone requests your book.

Becoming an Amazon Associate is another way. This is where you join up with Amazon and put a link to their website advertising their books.

I'd say that if you are only looking for something part time to susidise your income then paid surveys would be the way to go - they don't take much time to complete and can pay up to $75 per 15 minute survey.

For a longer term investment in make money online, then I would recommend joining an affiliate scheme - it takes more time and effort on your part to set up and get running but once it is - the rewards are much greater than with most online money making schemes.

Ebay - Probably the worlds largest online market place. (80,000 new shopping members daily) Buy the rights to a informational product, create your own, or get into a dropshipping program and sale products on ebay.

Well, you could start your own blog, aka website. You only have to pay a little then whoever you bought your blog rights from will send you some 100 or so mailing cards with names already on it. You send them off and if the people are interested, they get on, and you get paid. It is a great way to make easy money.

Hubpages! This is the most legitimate websites that I have stumbled upon. It is not a "get rich quick" scam.
