The basic rule of curtain making is that you measure by the measurements of the window itself. Do not estimate the measurements of the curtain instead measure the window and then estimate the curtain cloth required. The rule is that the curtain cloth must be 2-3 time wider than the width of the widow and the length should be measured from the top of the curtain rod to the length of the window. Usually it is 18 inches and then leave around 6 inches for the seams.
