Won't the government checks for Social Security and military still go out after August 2nd if the government shuts down?

It's very unlikely, because if Congress fails to increase the debt ceiling, the government will have to stop or delay payments on a range of legal obligations. Not just Social Security, but MediCare benefits, tax refunds and military salaries.Projected Treasury cash inflow/outflow for August shows a deficit of $134 billion. The only solution, if any, is to prioritise payments as a stopgap.

If these checks are prevented from being distributed it will be the Presidents choice, since we do have enough funds coming in to cover these obligations as well as paying the interest on our debt..
