I would love the ability to learn languages quickly. I envy the people that can. Communication skills are extremely empowering. The more languages you learn, the more you can communicate. It's really a very simple idea on the surface, but I think about it a lot.

You see, we live in a world more connected than ever before. We have incredible opportunities to learn about people on the other side of the planet. This only becomes difficult when you run into a foreign language. I find language barriers to be frustrating. Language is more than a way of speech, it's a way of thinking. Learning a new language opens you up to seeing the world in a slightly different way. Combine that with cultural studies and you'll do even better.

Another reason I would like to master languages quickly is so that I no longer have to read translated texts. I always worry about what's lost in translation.

I'm learning Mandarin at the moment, which is quite the challenge. Hindi, Arabic, Thai and Tibetan are next on my list.

I can imagine. Looks like you're going to have your hands full learning all that. I always wanted to learn Serbo-Croat, but i'm finding it pretty hard going!

Wow, how are you finding Mandarin? I agree with you completely about languages being really beneficial. It's a shame that, here in the UK, we seem to be becoming ever more complacent about the ability of people from the rest of the world to speak English, and teaching our schoolkids other languages with less and less commitment. My two children somehow got high marks in GCSE French and German, for example, but can barely express themselves in either language!

AHAHA great question for me really this really isn't some really special skill or anything but a skill to learn anything by just looking at it , like I suck at English .. The analysing and stuff so it would be great to get a knack at English :) oh and I always want  great acting skills , acting seems easy when you see actors doing things that look so realistic but its actually quite challenging to get into your role and actually act ... SO ACTING SKILLS WILL DEFINITELY Be MY CHOICE :)

LOL skills at English?? But you could learn all that easy...! 8) Don't be silly...English is easy, and analysing stuff? Don't need to be a genius at that, you just make some crap up and the examiner believes you. LOL

All martial arts!! Still learning right now but takes time to learn it all! Ninjitsu is very difficult, let me tell you! It's not easy at all! But kickboxing and judo are a walk in the park...just the really skilful fighting takes a lot more than you think so I'd love to learn that quick and easy and then I'm done!

Also I'd love to be able to learn how to drive quickly... I hate having driving lessons and I'm not getting anywhere soo....8(
