Well, I wouldn't say it was an actual job, but when I was in middle school people would pay me to tell them about their 'crushes'. I never really knew anybody then, so it would involve spying and gathering information.
Usually it was highly trivial information, such as 'skates at the skating rink frequently' or 'Knows the start and end time of all class periods'. I was basically a kid that kids paid to paid to stalk random classmates, haha.
I had a part time job copy setting for a horse racing magazine. One of our contributors used to re-handicap the fields according to a complicated system he'd devised and, once he was well established he tried blackmailing the boss into paying an exorbitant amount for it.
But I had studied the method he used and sat up all night doing the charts he should have done, and by the time the boss arrived next morning at 7:30 am I had not only completed the charts but had set them ready for printing.
So for a couple of years I had a job re-handicapping fields for punters. It didn't win me any money.
I spent almost a year in my early career doing absolutely nothing. Company got bought and I guess they forgot about us. Sat in an office browsing the internet and playing video games all day for six figures. It was fun for awhile until i realize it wasn't such a good idea and switched companies for a big raise. The people who stayed... Well.. The company soon picked up and they were goners.
