Why do girls become strippers? Shouldn't they do something than they would really enjoy? Something they're truly good at? Like an writer or an actress or a kindergarden teacher?

Don't knock it. One of history's most famous women was a stripper and, boy, did she do us a favour. Salome not only performed the dance of the seven veils for Herod, she rid the world of John the Baptist at the same time. A double service for which she is still remembered.

Many of them are dancers just waiting for that big break, and while waiting they are making money.  I knew one who did it to put her husband through law school. As soon as he graduated and started working, she quit stripping and started a family.

They wouldn't have a job and make so much money if people weren't paying to see them. Get rid of the customers, no more strippers.

I graduated high school with someone who danced. When she got to college she started stripping. She worked 2-3 nights a week for 4 hours each. She made enough money to pay for her living expenses and her schooling. She graduated debt free working 8-12 hours a week.

I had another friend who waitressed the lunch crowd at gentleman's club. She worked from noon to 2 Monday through Friday. That is 10 hours a week. She also made enough to pay for her living expenses and her schooling.

In some places, if they are attractive, they can earn 6 figures a year (cash mostly). That is likely the biggest draw, a lot of money for a small amount of work.
