Taxes are collected on winnings.  Why would the govt want to limit that source of tax revenue? They continue to press for more. It's up to people who gamble to police themselves on how much they gamble.

In case you've missed it, there is too much govt meddling in people's lives as it is, you want even more? Attempting to legislate behavior has never worked.

Last time I checked, they do tax winnings. They don't usually mess with the $10 winnings, but if you win BIG they do tax them.

I play poker, but have never won enough to matter 200 here 400 there. My wife is the one that kicks butt gambling, she's won quite a few slot jackpots. I hate slots so when we go she plays slots and i go to the poker room.

I've won over $3500.00 playing online Poker. Just got to find the right big shots that like to throw money around. They're the easiest! lol

Tax does not seem to affect addictive habits … look how useless it is on cigarettes and alcohol.

State governments are making billions of dollars off lotteries, why would they want to limit people gambling? Not to mention many states have income taxes so they can tax the winnings as well.
