YES 4-6 spaces per store would be good.
Should stores have a reserved area for Veterans parking? Here in Alberta we have veterans licence plates so they would be easy to identify.
I'll be interested in seeing the comments from veterans on this one.
How do you balance having risked your life for your country and survived with at least functional anatomy with someone who is clearly physically disabled.
(Frankly, I've never had a problem with "handicapped" parking because I have never needed it, but I've never really looked into how it developed as a concept.)
I think if they are special needs .. Yes. But I don't think just because someone is a Vet, they would merit special parking areas. There are many people who are physically disabled and need those closer spots. Vets certainly deserve our respect and thanks. But I have a feeling, they wouldn't feel they deserve that kind of special treatment. My son is a Vet and never expects special treatment because of it. Most would certainly defer those spots to people who truly need them.
Being a Vet myself, I have to agree with Barb and Tom here. If they are disabled Vets? Then yes but just a Vet with no disabilities? No. Those spaces are reserved for disabled people only and should stay that way. Also, is every Vet going to pay more for special plates that designate them as a Veteran? I think not.
Nope ... But (at least) double the amount of "disabled" parking spots.
I wouldn't be surprised if most vets who served in combat could qualify for a "disabled" parking sticker ... Either due to physical or mental issues due to their service.
My husband is a disabled veteran who usually doesn't even use a disabled spot. He only uses it when his back is bothering him. I did ask him what he thought an he said he would be for it, if it were for combat veterans. They physically put their life on the line.
what they need is all fat and lazy people park far away rule. Im tired of people in better shape than me having handicapped placards these doctors must be selling them
It should be in the order of parking for the handicapped, parking for seniors 65+, parking for veterans, regular parking, and parking for the morbidly obese or families with obese children in the very back.
