Why do employers force people to be good at writing skills even though not everyone can learn how to write?

Being able to write out a memo, a letter to a customer, an email response back to someone are all crucial skills to have in business. You are representing the company so it is critical that you be able to express your thoughts in a cohesive, professional manner.

An email to a customer that is fraught with typos, spelling and grammatical errors tells the customer that this is a company that does not care about their image.

You simply have to able to communicate effectively (not perfectly) in today's world.

That is pretty much an attainable skill in the Western world.
