I met a Johnny Uber today, pretty swell guy. Dropped me off to get some latte with Megan Barista. She complained to me how much her boyfriend David Bornrich was driving her nuts with his snobbish attitude.
If English surnames were created using today's professions what would your last name be? What about some of the people you know?
I have had too many jobs to even think about what my maiden name would be, so I will go with the married one, Army
I bet we will see "Programmer" and "Coder" as surnames soon. :)
Not an answer, but an observation.
Many years ago, there was an Indian Cricketer, Nari Contractor (apart from having to retire from the sport as a consequence of being hit on the head by a cricket ball, delivered by one of the fastest bowlers ever to have drawn breath) he is mainly remembered for his rather odd (for an Indian) surname.
His grandfather, who apparently had an unpronouncable (to the ignorant Brits) surname, just signed himself "Contractor" when negotiating deals with the ruling Raj, and the name stuck.
