A 2.8 GPA is okay. It's not good, but it's not bad either. It's right in the middle.

However, under your circumstances that you're a single mother I think 2.8 GPA is great. I can tell you tried hard, but taking 5 courses, I recommend you don't do that again!

Actually its dependent on how they're grading you. That 4.96 could be out of a 10.0 GPA and would be horrible or it could be out a 5.0 and would be very good.

First convert your 10 scale to a percentage: 7/10 = .7 = 70%

Then calculate 70% of 4.0: 4*.7 = 2.80

I assume this is on a 4.0 point scale. Also assumed is that you don't have + or - grading, only A,B,C etc.
A=4.0
B=3.0
C=2.0
D=1.0
F=0.0

Pass/Fail courses are usually just given a 2.0, but most Middle Schools give grades for their classes.
