To become a beauty therapist lecturer it is best to first of all work as a beauty therapist for few years to gain some experience and improve your skills. Beauty therapy is one of the careers where you will learn the most after you have qualified and experience and practise is absolutely invaluable.

To become a qualified beauty therapist you will need to do an NVQ, National Vocational Qualification, in beauty therapy. An NVQ ensures that a professional is fully trained in a particular skill. Your local college will probably provide the course and give you plenty of experience with real clients. You may be given the option to specialize in one area of beauty therapy so it might be a good idea to do to work experience in your local beauty salon to establish which areas you enjoy the most.

Different areas to specialize in can include make-up artist for fashion, television and film, nail art to become a nail technician, massage, aromatherapy or electrolysis. You should try and find work as an apprentice or junior at a salon, particularly if your course is part time, and you will need to complete regular assessments to keep track of your progress.

Once you are fully qualified, it is suggested that you work for a few years to gain as much experience and expertise as possible. Take as many extra courses as you can that are related to beauty therapy and become as highly qualified as possible.

Many employers will ask for a level 3 NVQ along with the following qualifications:
  • Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Beauty Therapy
  • Level 3 Diploma in Indian Head Massage
  • Level 3 Certificate in Swedish Massage
  • Level 3 Certificate in Reflexology Techniques
  • Other Holistic and Beauty Therapy Studies
  • NVQ Level 2 & 3 in Beauty Therapy
You must also be up to date on the current curriculum and have a patient yet authoritative personality.

Well for this I will justest to to become a doctor and have 2 to 3 years of skin treatment experience then you can get a great job. If you don't want to be a doctor then you should get a certificate or diploma in beauty therapy and at least 2 to 5 years of work experience.

Experience is the best teacher, a teacher is one who know all sides of the subject. You need to learn a lot on beauty therapy, its skills and knowledge, being under a teacher can only explain you how much learned you are. After a certain time period you will yourself feel satisfied with what you have learned and then you can utilize your knowledge by teaching your younger ones who are at the beginning stage. Since learning never ends so its a cycle that carries on by passing knowledge to other. Yes I agree that becoming teacher is far better than working in a salon but a good teacher is one who can help the student in any sort of query. You need to go through the student age so as to become a superb teacher. Obviously when there is a will there is a way! Best of luck.
