Jack up front of vehicle, put it on blocks or jack stand away from the place where you are working. Remove tire. Remove nut in the center of hub or rotor, remove brake pads and calipers, remove lower ball joint nut and knock loose and away from spindle, pull rotor back and out of the way, slip out axle and its done. Reverse to install. Don't try replacing the joint. Buy a new axle, its almost as cheap and much easier.
