How Do I Become An Actress In Hollywood?

You can't just rush off to hollywood and wish you were an actress or actor..you have to work hard and believe in yourself(if you don't have self-confidence)then you would keep pushing yourself down..so take acting classes and get a little more experienced than you already are..I live in south africa(used to live)and today I'm sitting in new york because I stayed positive the whole time..if I can do it so can you..and I'm only 17..

First of all, you have to be in Hollywood, or you have to audition for any U.S. Production that might be filming in your general area.  Starting as an extra is usually the way to go, but if you have extensive theater/radio/TV experience that might help you land something better sooner...but not necessarily.  They key is to get in touch with agencies to get them your head shots (professionally done, otherwise don't bother!) and build up your resume while you do so with extra work, commercial work, and (maybe) modeling work.  Model Mayhem is a great site, and Craigslist often has extra work or indy movie roles, because companies don't like to waste money on casting if they don't have to.  But with all things -- especially Model Mayhem and Craigslist -- always be careful who you meet with and what you take.  You can get exploited easily, but any professional photographer and/or casting person will give you full contact info up front, and will allow you to bring someone along for safety.I'm slowly building up my career -- I've already done commercials, some minor roles, extra work -- and you can follow how I'm networking and building up relationships within the Hollywood community on my Blog at www.laurie-landry.com.

If one does want to become an actress in Hollywood make sure that you have prior acting experience be it plays or theatre or Broadway, in a television soap opera or even at a local club.
