Uber "aims" to be a 24 hour service, although this isn't always guaranteed... it all comes down to whereabouts you live. Here's why:
Uber is a personal driver service app - you just tap on the app, write in your location, and someone comes to pick you up! It even claims to be cheaper than a taxi, which makes it really attractive. But is it a 24 hour service? After some rooting around on their website I think I can say that Uber aims to be a 24 hour, 365 days a year service, but it depends on your city and how many drivers are available.
If you need to get somewhere on time during the night, like the airport, it seems that it might be best to open the app a little earlier than you would normally to check that someone can get to you on time. The Uber website suggests 10-15 minutes earlier, but I'd go for 20-30 minutes just to be on the safe side. All in all, the Uber service looks like a fantastic way to cheaply get around cities. My favourite part is that if you're going somewhere posh, you can order Black, their original Uber, and arrive in style!
However, Uber has been in the media recently for its prices being really high during 'prime times' and incidents involving its drivers. Another issue, and this might not concern you unless you're worried about workers' rights, is that they seem to be 'taking advantage' of their drivers by making much more money from each job than the drivers take for themselves:Remember what I was saying about making sure you check the Uber app well in advance if you need to get somewhere during the night?
A test by The Telegraph newspaper showed that Uber was the slowest way to get around London, and that was in the day! If you're looking for Uber to be a 24 hour service, it looks like it's good to be well organised and order a car in advance.
Hmm... I might take back my statement about it being a great service.
