Have you ever made a decision at your workplace and acted on it because you thought it was best for all and then got chastised by a boss for it afterwards?

Yep.

And I'm probably gonna do it next week, again.

I've been waiting 2 months for final approval on new ID badge layout, and sent them 4 worksheets for official dept/job names - and still haven't heard back.  But the CEO wants the new badges by the end of this month, so I have to ... HAVE TO ... Start printing them next week.

I only ever did that one. It was very satisfying. Of course, it took me a few weeks to find a new job but I thought it was worth it.

Absolutely.  At my old job I tried to implement a faster system to help organise psychology appointments and do the reception work faster. And my boss freaked out because only my manager and I could understand the system.

Oh yeah, that's the way the cookie crumbles. But let me tell you, nobody chastises like the Japanese.

I was working for the Tomen Corporation in Sydney in the early 90s and one day the boss came into my office and said, "If you ever do that again I will bring a ceremonial knife into this office and watch you ritually disembowel yourself."

No, I never did it again. I wasn't sure if he was kidding.
