I served in both Michigan and Colorado and both states required you to attend that states police academy. The length of the academy will very depending on the state you live in.  Some states allow you to challenge their academy qualifications.  I attended  the Michigan police academy and became certified in that state.  When I moved to Colorado three years later I had to attend that states academy.  Plan on maintaining continuing education credits to keep your certification.  After 35+ years of service I ended up with over 3,600 credit hours.

Thanks, ! Unfortunately not much chance of getting better. Wish I could give you better news, but in the game of life the only thing you can do is play the cards your dealt! Been lucky enough to have been dealt four of a kind for years, now the Big Guy comes along with a full house! I still feel blessed!
