As I was in the construction business for most of my life, I had to drive to various job sites. Most were within 25 miles but one job was a little over 1000 miles away and we stayed there for two weeks.
I worked at the job I retired from for 20 years. The first 6 years I was there I only drive 8 miles each way. Then in 2000 I moved father out, so I drove 30 miles each way.
Out of all the jobs I had most commutes were 15 miles or less each way. My last job the shortest route in distance was 12 miles, but because of traffic it usually took 45 minutes or more to get home. I switched to a route that added an extra 5 miles but with the lack of traffic I got home in 20-25 minutes.
When I first got my job I would travel 31 miles one way excluding the side trip I took to drop my daughter off with my sitter. Then when she started 1st grade I transferred to the store that was less then a mile from my house. I never could use the excuse my car broke down cuz I would just walk! Lol!
In all of my 32 years I was never more than 20 miles away.
The longest was 31 miles. I did that for ten years.
The shortest was about 1.5 miles,
The last one was about 5 miles
My commute takes about 25 minutes each way. I don't really mind it. I get to listen to audio books.
I could almost aim and spit, I live fairly close. 4 minutes or less.
For two years I was a 5 minute walk to work. Then for 16 years it was a 90 minutes trip each way.
Always within 10-15 minutes from my house. I doubt I'll be that lucky soon enough.
I only live six miles from work .... That was one of the reasons I originally bought my condo here.
Most of my jobs twenty miles or less but traffic was heavy
