A large study of research suggests that leaders differ along the dimensions initiating structure and consideration. Production-oriented leaders focus only on getting the job done and often view everything as a task. People-oriented leadership is the opposite of task-oriented leadership. With people-oriented leadership, leaders are totally focused on organizing, supporting, and developing the people in their teams. They think about tasks with regard to how the tasks will impact other people. In practice, most leaders use both production-oriented and people-oriented styles of leadership.
