Every year the tower sinks into the ground on one side about 5 cm. The tower gave way during construction tilting towards southwest. People say it is a work of art and took nearly two centuries to be completed. The tower is 180 feet tall and there are 275 steps in the tower from bottom to top. The building process began in 1173 and continued for many years. The bell has 7 bells at the top of the tower, they are all tuned to a musical scale and they all have there own individual name. The tower started to tilt because the ground where the tower was taking place was very soft and when they were building the third floor it started to tilt but they continued the building process. They had to close the tower to the public   because so many people had fallen off.
