Chemistry is very much needed in any sort of medical fields. The body (human or animal) is full of chemical reactions and you'll be giving animals different medicines for whatever the reason and you have to know what this is going to do in the body. It may seem pointless, but you NEED a very strong background in chem if you want to get into a good vet school.
