Wow, it's amazing that we all got the same message. I was excited to talk to them, but now I think it's a scam. I tried to research it, and I found this: (from www.ripoffreport.com )    Report: TheTalent Network - Kids Talent Network - Alex Simon  Category: Modeling & Talent Agencies    Kids Talent Network, Alex Simon, The Talent Network FORMER TALENT SCOUT QUITS DUE TO DECEPTIVE TRADE PRACTICES BY COMPANY OWNER ALEX SIMON Las Vegas Nevada Internet         TheTalent Network - Kids Talent Network - Alex Simon  Phone:  702-562-1266  Fax:  -alex@kidstalent 7473 W. Lake Mead Blvd., Suite 100 Las Vegas, NV 89128  Las Vegas, Internet 89128  U.S.A.    Submitted: Friday, May 01, 2009  Modified: Friday, May 01, 2009    McMinnville, Tennessee      Ripoff Report Verified Safe  KIDS TALENT NETWORK IS A SCAM. THEY NOW GO BY THE NAME THE TALENT NETWORK. I am a talent scout. I worked for Alex for 7-8 weeks and then quit. The sad part was there was plenty of talent inquiring but the kids do not receive the representation and he does not market them at all. He has a desk girl make a few phone calls to agents from a book he bought (you can buy too online). I am not allowed to say the name of the book due to a non-disclosure agreement I signed. But that is ALL he has to run this operation. You could do this yourself if you locate the book which costs about 40 bucks (it lists casting agents, directors, agencies etc). All they want is your 500 bucks.    I had the sad job of talking to wonderful parents who were hopeful and probably had some really talented kids or beautiful babies. They would be excited when I would tell them what I tell all of them to convince them to pull out that credit card and sign them up. In the beginning I even encouraged my cousin Louis Rosas to sign his daughter - Julia Rosas who plays concert piano, can dance, act and has modeled for me in the past (she was only 8). I felt absolutely horrible when I realized they did nothing at all with beautiful Julia (who truly deserved to be marketed and wanted to do something special with her talents.)    A year passed and one day My cousin FINALLY received a call about Julia. Alex Simon and his entourage (a desk girl probably) were heading to Atlanta for a model search! I checked into it immediately and sure enough it was another "bait and switch" operation using the Wilhemina name (not the real Wilhelmena) "MODEL SEARCH" in their advertising to reel in more acting/modeling hopefuls to enroll in their "school".This was all Alex ever did for sweet beautiful talented Julia - try to hit Daddy up for MORE money?    I signed a "non-disclosure" agreement before I left the organization but not without telling Alex how I felt about his operation. All one needs to be a scout for KTN or TTN is good telemarketing skills. I had a script that told me what to say about the children - ("Oh we think your son/daughter has exactly what this industry is looking for! Or "Th emarket for your child is good in your area!)) True Alex makes no promises to get the child work, but he makes no real efforts either which is what one thinks they are going to get for their money.    He pops their picture and info into a website database, but it really goes no where. He occasionally submits them when his "girl Friday" can get through to someone who will accept them which is not always the case. Alex does just enough to make it "legal" so no one can come after him. I sat at a desk and took calls, returned calls, responded to e-mail inquiries and I will be honest with you. We turned NO ONE down. He did not care if the child had talent, was cute or not so cute. Weight, height, skin color did not matter. They were all worth 500 or more to him.    I quit but not without expressing my concerns about the "scammy feel" his business had. In the future never sign your kids up unless the agent is willing to meet with you the parent and the child "one on one". If the agent has an interest to sign your child DO NOT PAY. They get paid 15% AFTER the child completes a job. I have experience with child models, actors (was a model myself and even taught acting and modeling). This is a sleazy operation with a nice store front. The ones who get ripped off usually are the out of state (the further you are away from Las Vegas -the less likely they will manage you properly). YOUR COMPLAINTS ARE VALID. I WILL HELP ANYWAY I CAN BUT MUST HAVE A LAWYER READ MY NON-DISCLOSURE LETTER to make sure I am within my rights to testify. I believe I am about anything that was unethical.    I want to also say that when you walk into this big building (other tenants have offices in it) the look and feel is that it is a big agency. The conference room is shared by all tenants (it does not belong to Alex). Business and signing of kids is done in a tiny room (10x10) and I sat at a small desk with my phone glued to my ear. His wife would monitor my phone calls and watch as well as coach me on how to "hook them" and "build my pipeline". I am sad now thinking about it, because I never was allowed to really meet any of these parents or kids and I knew some of them had used what little money they had to give their kid(s)a shot.    Alex doesn't not care. I am glad I quit and I feel sorry for all of you especially my cousin Louis who I adore. I wanted to give Alex the benefit of the doubt and made suggestions on how he could actually just focus on Las Vegas and Los Angeles rather than pull people in from all over the US. It is impossible for him to manage all these kids and find them agents even if he tried. HE does not have the staff do keep up with all the kids. Alex cares more about the money.    I hope this helps.    Former talent scout for alex simon  McMinnville, Tennessee  U.S.A.    I guess just like what people in the industry have warned us, if you have to pay upfront, it's a scam.

I got scammed two years ago, I signed a 3 year contract for my 2 kids who I was told were exactly what they were looking for and may have some work pretty soon. It's been 2 years 3 month and we only went for Ford modeling which was complete bullcrap. It wasn't an audition which they were promising in the beginning. I paid over $900 and will not let them get away with it. I will post my story everywhere so people do not get fooled.

I received the same email as well. It is interesting that the same kid pictures and testimonials are also on the Model Republic Kids website. I think it is a scam - and now they are asking for $595.

I have submitted my child to their REFERRAL group and have had lots of meetings that they have invited me to. I think that they may have a basic template that they send to their potential clients whom they are interested in to help save time. Either way, they have been promoting my child and have sent me to various agencies. I say go for it and re-read what a markeing group is and stop confusing Kids Talent with an agency.

DON'T SIGN UP FOR THEM- IT'S A SCAM!!!  I will DEFINITELY make a complaint!  I have been with them for about 9 months and got the same emails as above.  They were fast at putting my son's first pictures up, but slow the next time and never updated his "skills and talents".  I was told the lady I was dealing with (Renee) had gone on medical leave and all updates should go through Alex.  He has NEVER responded to my multiple emails and hasn't updated anything.  Now, if you go to my son's profile or try to see the others on the website it looks as though they have been hacked into.  I have no idea what happened but again, Alex has not gotten back with me.  I was wondering if there is anything I can do to try and get all or some of my money back, but I am sure there is some loop hole in the contract that prevents that.  If anyone else has any information on what we can do to complain- please let me/ us know.

Agencies are not allowed to charge any fee upfront, as per the federal laws in the entertainment field. Kids Talent is not an agency, and will not do anything except take your cash and put your child's pictures on a small portfolio section on their site.
They will not do anything further. You will be very upset when you see that I am right if you go ahead and trust these scam artists. Take that money and invest for your child's college education. Take your child to an actual agency in the area that you reside, and do it the right way. Good luck my friend!

Thank you all. I too got the same reply. I thought maybe I should find a child that is obviously not the cutest kid but then thought twice...all kids are cute in their own way!
Thanks again for the info!

NO, NO, NO.

Ahem, sorry. This upsets me. Kids Talent Network is a SCAM. They post "success stories" on various bulletin boards and forums, in fact, look at the one on this page. Look at the picture of that woman; clearly a magazine photo or something similar. We all get the same fill-in-the-name message, and the follow-up explaining the large fee for making a website? I can make a free one, thanks. Don't let these people insult your intelligence.

I got the exact same Email. If they contact me again I will do it..but the second they ask for money, no, I'm out. I believe that if they really think they can make money from your child's work, there should be no reason to charge a fee upfront.

We have been with them since 2007 and nothing. They were even in my city for child auditions and we were not even notified to attend. When I send update photos they reply with, "as long as you keep doing your part we will keep marketing your child to get him signed." This has been he same since 2007. I think it is a scam.

Be worried! I fell for their scam n 2007 and it was a lesson that cost me 495 dollars. First, they are out of Vegas, where no real work is. Also, they take money from all over the nation. I even wrote the shady owner, Alex Simon, who continued to lie and never provided anything! They are crooked and predatory. I hope you did not fall for them like I did.

According to my research, Kids Talent Network is one of the best agencies for kids modelling. They have a great network and know how and when to market a particular child. You can read their reviews at various websites and also referrals from satisfied parents on the internet. Of course, agencies do charge such amounts for this work and $495 is not a big amount for it.

I got the same email from them. I replied and this is what they wrote back:

Before we call, we just wanted to make sure you understand that we are NOT an agency - we refer your child to safe and reputable agencies, and therefore charge for such services. However, since your child will become a working model, your investment is tax-deductible!

To help answer any questions you may have, here's a summary of how we work:

Every day our company receives up to 200 new submissions, all of which are immediately screened by our casting department and evaluated for potential in the modeling industry. Of all the kids evaluated, only a small percentage is signed by us for representation.

As for our service, we do all the marketing and promotion of your kid for you through an efficient and cutting-edge method developed by our company. In summary, we build a website for your child, host it, maintain it, and have it viewed only by reputable agencies, casting directors and industry personnel nationwide - all of which are part of our exclusive network of industry resources.

Nowadays, most top agencies only accept kids through an "industry referral". The old "Mail us photos!" system no longer works. Your child needs to come recommended by someone in the industry. Guess who that "someone" is? Yes, us!!

In addition, we advise you on photos, outfits, travel, etc. - anything that you'd need to know to succeed in the industry. Never mind all the time spent on researching agencies that you'll save.

Oh, and we provide you the peace-of-mind of knowing that you'll only be dealing with legit and reputable agencies. The safety of your child is our first priority!

We do all of this for the next 3 years for a tax-deductible, one-time investment of only $595!!

Quite a deal, huh?

In 2007 alone, children we have worked with have appeared on Disney Channel, MTV, Heroes (NBC), McDonald's commercial, Criss Angel - Mindfreak (A&E), Everybody Hates Chris (UPN), EA Sports commercial, Pier 1 catalog, Larry The Cable Guy and much more!

We are confident ******** can have a successful career in modeling and television, and hope to help you get there faster and safely.

Your child has been carefully selected to fill a void in our roster of talent, and we're hopeful to be working with you. Yet, due to the time-sensitive nature of our business, we cannot hold your child's spot indefinitely.

If you'd still like me to call, we need to set up a convenient time for a phone meeting – within the next couple of days - to further explain to you how you can get your child represented by us.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Alex

P.S.: It is very important that both parents are "on board" with the decision to join Kids Talent Network. Please discuss this information with your spouse/significant other before requesting to be contacted further.

In October of 2008, after inquiring and receiving the same "marketable and beautiful child" message, I signed up my child via fax.  I paid $595, even after my husband said he thought it was a scam.  The only pictures that were ever displayed on my son's web page, which they say is part of their online database, were the first set I emailed in.  My son's web page was current for those first three months.  Since then, I emailed in pictures and they didn't update any of his photos.  I did everything to try and contact Alex Simon.  I've called, left messages, and emailed several times, never hearing anything back.  It seems like the only people that get something done are those who live in Nevada and are able to go down to their office in person.  I finally submitted a complaint through the Better Business Bureau in July of this year.  They also have tried to contact this company that is registered with them and have been unsuccessful in doing so because they change their numbers so often. I now have also submitted a complaint through the Federal Trade Commission.  They informed me that their attorneys may take up the case depending on their research and on how many complaints are submitted.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE if you have the same problem with this so called company, take a few minutes and submit your complaints to the BBB and the FTC.  The numbers are below.  Give them KTN's updated information.  I'll include that below too.  You can also do it online.  Don't let Alex Simon get away with this.  I will also be contacting small claims court to see if I can prosecute legally.  They have a division that will review your case for free to see if it is a worthy matter that can be taken to court.

I understand that Dakota Fanning and several other stars, children or not, use the osbrink agency. Understanding this, I would recommend their agency very highly. You can check out osbrinkagency.com if you don't believe me.
