Departmentalization is a process of grouping organizations job and functions with respect to product/services and customers. The 3 basic methods to group the jobs are functional, divisional, and matrix. In a functional organization work is focused and grouped with respect to business function and the expertise they need. In the divisional organization all functions are grouped into a one division, and functions are same in all of the divisions. One manager is responsible for one division. In Matrix organizations are a hybrid shape of organization where functional and divisional becomes overlap, forming a dual line of control where workers and managers report to two authorities. Here control is very good and employees shifts from one project to another under supervisor's supervision.
