Why do teachers treat students with disabilities harshly and even fail them?

Because teachers don't understand special needs kids and most were never taught how to deal with them if they are put into mainstream classes so teachers expect the same thing from them as their regular students which is wrong but under equality rights, these special need students are to get the same education as regular students and with all these budget cuts in state educations, special need students are being forced into classes with mainstream students

Such a shame and if they misbehave, they get in trouble.. Wow I feel sorry for those kids.

Not in my experience Maxine and there was new legislation passed in the UK a while back for teachers to give the disabled or handicapped more attention and leeway and take these disadvantages into account when grading them.

Well here in the US it is quite different. They will make the special ed students take another year of the same grade or fail them. It is unfair actually.
