It is common during any interview to be given between 2 and 10 minutes to introduce yourself. Not only does this give you the opportunity to tell the interviewers all about yourself but it also gives you the chance to explain why you are the best person for the job. It is more than likely that you will not have long to do this so you should prepare your answer before hand to ensure you get the most out of this opportunity.
- Begin with some background information but do not go into too much detail. You do not need to explain about your siblings and your pets (unless it is directly applicable to the job) but you should include your educational details and anything from your childhood which may be related to the job.
- Talk about your hobbies and passions and show some personality. Try to include something that will make your employers remember you and definitely include anything that shows your passions somehow link to the job. Do not include any hobbies which may be unfavorable or could go against you.
- You should then talk about your work and what experience you have had which would make you the ideal candidate for the job you are applying for. Do not be afraid to emphasize your strengths. It does not make you 'big headed'. The interviewer wants to know all your strong qualities and this is the only way you will get the job.
- Finish by explaining why it is that you want the job so badly and give one clear point as to why you are the best person for the job.
