Advantages:
  • Working inside, not heavy lifting or heavy physical work.
  • Use of skills that will pretty much transfer from one office to another.
  • Examples: Using a computer, telephone, typing , filing.
  • If you like paperwork, and computers, you would probably like being in an office.
  • Working  closely with co-workers, (can be a family type environment.)
Disadvantages:
  • Sometimes you work too closely with people. You can start to get on each others nerves.
  • Many phones ringing at once, several people talking in a small area.
  • Pay is usually on the lower scale, unless you work in a large company, at the front offices.
  • Sitting at a desk all day, looking at a computer can be tiring on your back, and neck.
  • It can also put a get strain on your eyes. Many people have to wear glasses after working on computers for a long time.

Working in an office obviously has its advantages if that's what you want to do. There are various advantages depending on what role you have within the company. If you have trained at college and it is what you want to do, then the advantages are that you will be prepared for the work you will have to do within the role.

Like with every job, there are bound to be downsides though. Office work can be very tedious, just like any other job. Also, working in an office means that you will be in constant contact with your colleagues and this could be either an advantage or disadvantage. The advantage is that if you get on with them really well, then you can easily make new friends and you job will be enjoyable.

The disadvantage is that if you find that you do not get on well with your colleagues, then your job will be very difficult so it is a good idea to try and be on good terms with the people who are around you.

Don't forget the advantage of how easy it is to prank a fellow coworker.
