If the person is paranoid or suicidal urgent help should be sought as the sooner this is brought under control the better. One should ensure there are no means of cutting or doing harm to themselves or other people. Talk to the patient about their feelings. Often they are in turmoil whilst giving an outward calm appearance. Look at the body language and learn to interpret this.
