Nursing is a profession because you can earn money for practicing it.
Nursing is also a discipline because there are schools who teach nursing, it is something you can teach and learn.

Also, nursing has many specialties and is an ever changing profession as new technologies and techniques are developed. It demands a high level of discipline as a failure can cost a life. :)
