It is a famous saying that " A teacher is like a light-house which shows the right path to people in darkness" take the examples of great teachers in history like Socrates, Aristotle, Luqmaan, Christ and Hazrat Muhammad who changed the world and still their teachings are affecting people throughout the world. So to be a teacher is in fact a great responsibility and he should try to possess the qualities of such great people though it's not easy.
Patience, persuasiveness, endurance, faith and consistency are core characteristics of a teacher.
A teacher must possess leadership qualities, should do whatever he says, to enable the students to follow him. Must have great confidence and strong will power to obtain the best results from his students. Must be a master in his subject, full command over knowledge.
Dedication and devotion towards his students is must. Always be ready to give time to students selflessly.
He must be a very easy going person, using simple language in a very lively way so his students get familiar with him and enjoy his presence with heart not with fear.
He must be a man of character indeed.

A good teacher must have full command on his subject. He must also be having a commanding personality as well. Higher degrees are necessary to become a teacher but to become a great teacher loyalty and sincerity to profession is required. If being a teacher, one is sincere to his profession; he will do his maximum effort to make himself successful. And as we all know that effort can never be squandered so a hard working loyal teacher will must get his reward by his students, bosses and the most important one, Allah because teaching is a very noble profession and liked by Him.

Besides having fabulous and fine knowledge, a teacher must have great moral values because he is one being followed by whole generation. He must not make himself to stay with his lectures and study stuff only but he must also play a vital role in students' counselling. He must make his personality friendly and polite so that students do not give another thought to the idea of sharing something regarding studies or daily life problems. There are so many small and big things that must be considered while being a great teacher as a great teacher gets too much love and respect by whole society.

A teacher is an individual who plays the most vital role in the development of any being. The future of any student depends on the qualities and dedication of a teacher. It is the teacher who creates an interest in students to develop and progress and achieve what ever aims they set for themselves.    The most important qualities of a teacher are as follows:    - A good teacher tries continuously . Teachers respect students who try hard even if they do not succeed; similarly students should respect teachers who try their best for quality teaching.    - Good teachers are always ready to take risks. They set impossible goals for themselves and then struggle hard to achieve them.    - Good teacher always have positive attitude. Cynical people usually create a negative attitude in people especially in students since they are in a raw state of growing and developing attitudes.    - Good teachers are seldom free for extra activities as they are either busy preparing lesson plans, grading papers, trying to instruct their students and if nothing else counselling students in areas that have nothing to do with specific courses.    - A good teacher always tries to give confidence to his or her students and encourages them . Once my teacher said to me that " The specific subject matter I teach is less important than that of  what students learn by learning it."

A good teacher, first of all, must like working with people. He or she must have a great enthusiasm for the subject(s) being taught - even if you aren't a great expert on or lover of a particular subject, you can still teach it well if you enjoy imparting knowledge and are good at communicating.

As far as character is concerned, the one quality a teacher MUST have is patience. You must never, ever be annoyed with students because they don't understand something (if they're not listening, that's different!) You must have sense of humour and (very important) create an atmosphere where everyone knows they can ask questions, try out new ideas and maybe make mistakes in a supportive environment.

Finally, the teacher must be in charge. It's very good if the students decide some aspects of how learning takes place, what they learn etc, but the classroom is a much happier and more productive place if everyone knows that the teacher is a professional, who knows what s/he is doing and can be trusted to run the lesson effectively.

Some good qualities in Teacher are as following:

  1. A good leader has an exemplary character. It is of utmost importance that a leader
is trustworthy to lead others. A leader needs to be trusted and be known to live
their life with honestly and integrity. A good leader “walks the talk” and in doing
so earns the right to have responsibility for others. True authority is born from
respect for the good character and trustworthiness of the person who leads.

  2. A good leader is enthusiastic about their work or cause and also about their role
as leader. People will respond more openly to a person of passion and dedication.
Leaders need to be able to be a source of inspiration, and be a motivator towards
the required action or cause. Although the responsibilities and roles of a leader
may be different, the leader needs to be seen to be part of the team working towards
the goal. This kind of leader will not be afraid to roll up their sleeves and get
      dirty.

  3. A good leader is confident. In order to lead and set direction a leader needs to
appear confident as a person and in the leadership role. Such a person inspires
confidence in others and draws out the trust and best efforts of the team to complete
the task well. A leader who conveys confidence towards the proposed objective inspires
the best effort from team members.

  4. A leader also needs to function in an orderly and purposeful manner in situations
of uncertainty. People look to the leader during times of uncertainty and unfamiliarity
and find reassurance and security when the leader portrays confidence and a positive
      demeanor.

  5. Good leaders are tolerant of ambiguity and remain calm, composed and steadfast to
the main purpose. Storms, emotions, and crises come and go and a good leader takes
these as part of the journey and keeps a cool head.

  6. A good leader as well as keeping the main goal in focus is able to think analytically.
Not only does a good leader view a situation as a whole, but is able to break it
down into sub parts for closer inspection. Not only is the goal in view but a good
leader can break it down into manageable steps and make progress towards it.

  7. A good leader is committed to excellence. Second best does not lead to success.
The good leader not only maintains high standards, but also is proactive in raising
the bar in order to achieve excellence in all areas.

Teachers play an integral role in the development of our children. A good teacher should be patient but persistent. Not all children learn at the same pace and inevitably some will require special attention. However, giving up on these children is a mistake as they can usually succeed with encouragement and hard work.
Another must have quality for a good teacher is a positive attitude. Cynics make lousy teachers. We want our children to believe in themselves and that all things are possible.
Also, good teachers are innovators, they come up with ways to make things interesting for their students when they may otherwise ordinarily be bored or apathetic.
Good teachers love teaching, they don’t become teachers to get rich or for the fame and if they have they should have their heads examined. Teaching is not about having summers off. Good teachers are willing to put in the time and effort to make a difference and to be their best.
Above all good teachers are loving, caring people who want to make a difference in the world and believe that they can do so through their work.

To know the subject and ability to pass the core meaning of it as well as its practical using are the main part of teachers' quality. Neutral explaining and critical analysing taking into consideration of advantages and drawbacks motivate students to be interested in and respect teacher as well.

As a parent, I see a lot of teachers who are losing PATIENCE. It used to be that people wanted to be teachers because they really loved the children, but nowadays some of them are cursing at the kids, throwing papers at them, calling them all kinds of names and degrading them. If you have no patience please do not be a teacher. Also stay trim and fit because you need to eat healthy and be energetic.

The qualities of a good teacher should be that the teacher is nice enough so that the children will listen to the teacher and obey him/her. Also the teacher should pay attention to the students and not always talking to other teachers on the computer. A teacher will also become a better teacher if some people of a class will confront him/her and tell him/her what they don't like about and tell the teacher what he/she should do to make the students like him/her better. I have confronted my teacher once and told her exactly and EVERYTHING I didn't like about her. Believe it or not, she changed.
