To become an air hostess or a flight attendant you do not need any formal degree or certification or even any formal training before you get the job. In fact, all airlines train their staff after they are given a job.

In order to become an airline flight attendant or an air hostess you need to have the following:

1. A minimum height of 5 feet 2 inches.
2. A certain level of education, which differs for different airlines I think.
3. Good looks
4. Well groomed and polite
5. Ability to work under pressure
6. Ability to work long hours
7. Ability to work flexible routines
8. Willingness to be always on the move
9. Be able to hold conversations
10. Ability to smile, even when you do not feel like smiling. (This I believe is the hardest part  )
11. Fluency in English.
12. If you know other international languages along with English, such as French or Arabic, that is usually considered as an added advantage.

You need to prepare a good and effective resume and send them to the Human Resource departments of various air lines. Do not forget to attach a picture of yourself. Also write a cover letter and send that in along with your resume and photo graph. You can find job opportunities, job descriptions and requirements on the websites of various airlines.

Aim for at least four GCSEs, including the basic ones like English and Maths. In addition, consider the following:

Geography

Languages: Spanish, French, German, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, Japanese, any of these would be a big plus. Russian, Hebrew, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese not bad, either. The latin languages (Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian) all have a lot in common with each other, enough overlap to make them not so difficult to study together.

Business

Economics

History

You'll probably have to wait until you're at least 19 before any airline would consider your application (21, in some cases). So why not choose the 2 or 3 subjects you like best and carry on at A-level? That will look even better on your application.

Plus you must meet the height and weight requirements (5'2" to 6' tall, and quite fit). AND you'll need a certain manner, which mostly involves being polite to the public at all times and keeping your cool under pressure!
