I don't want to be racist but that is how it is here. Your race sets your minimum wage and benefits that you get. If you are 'western' (i.e: British, American, Australian), you will be paid much higher than an Indian engineer who has same or higher qualification than yours. And because of this unfair treatment many amateur westerners get to live a luxurious life and spend lavishly here. But if you want to practice engineering in its true sense, think twice before moving here. The quality of work done by engineers in all sectors is beyond poor. It is unacceptable! All projects get delayed by a year or two which makes project managing and scheduling void and dull. Buildings deteriorate in just two decades. Newly built houses (villas) crack in less than a decade with pipes bursting every season, roofs leaking with slightest rain, and boundary walls settling biyearly. Construction workers are being treated as slaves.    Cheap residential areas are built with hundreds of villas looking alike and are sold to people at high prices. Five years after project is complete, the access roads to areas are still cracked and will be flooded in winter cause road drainage is non existent. Roads are sloped so water would be accumulated on one side and hopefully the heat evaporates it all in a few days time. Huge lakes of waste water are common around all residential projects. They are so large you can hold a sewage swimming Olympic. Trees that were once a decisive factor that made people actually buy these over delayed houses will be removed in few years time and relocated to another project in some other remote area in desert so people would go buy the new concrete city. An 8 lane highway would be built in front of your villa once all trees are removed. Soon after cracks and leakage will be evident. If the boundary wall doesn't settle, you will know that God had mercy upon you! All this aside, you will have to face rude and arrogant people who have become rich lately and don't know how, when, or what to spend their money on.    I don't want to be negative. I am just pointing out the facts to you! If you think I am lying, come and experience it for your self. Everything you hear or see about here is nothing but a fuss.
