Depends on the type of nurse, there are several units within a hospital or facility.  There are all different requirements, for special care units or SPU, critical care units or CCU, intensive care units or ICU, Trauma and E.R. Nurses, Neonatal Nurses, or NICU - Neo Natal Intensive Care.  For Basic LPN, they just require your basic nursing, its a step up from a nursing assistant.  Without knowing where your at in the nursing field, basic technical skills can range from, it can be taking your basic BP, PULSE-OX, to anywhere from Performing CPR, Administering Medication, Injections,Starting I.V. Lines, etc.

They would need to care and have a positive attitude to the job. And understand the patient and how they feel when they are looking after them. Its really what qualities what you need. I'm doing it now. In school. Work related report :P.
